These Birds Nest Easter Dirt Cups are the epitome of welcoming Spring and all things that remind us a new season is upon us.
For another nostalgia classic, try these Peanut Butter Dirt Cups!
I don’t know about you guys but dirt cups bring back such nostalgia for me.
My mother use to make them for all our school parties before everything had to be in individual packages due to allergies.
One of my favorite dirt cups she would make, was a sandy dirt cup, which is made with white OREOS and vanilla pudding.
These dirt cups resemble more of a beach than the dirt, but since I’m keeping with the theme of “dirt cups” I named them as such.
These Birds Nest Easter Dirt Cups are so stinkin’ cute, I can’t even stand it!
PEEPS also bring back nostalgia for me. They were always part of my Easter basket and now, being a parent, they are always a part of my children’s baskets as well.
They love them and PEEPS was gracious enough to send us a large package full of #PEEPSChick & #PEEPS Bunny and these ADORABLE slippers for my kids. They were elated and they both came in their favorite colors!
This was one of the first recipes I had to make for the week because my kids were begging to eat all the PEEPS.
I used some of the PEEPS pink bunny in these Marshmallow Bunny Cupcakes and then I used the yellow chicks for these Birds Nest Easter Dirt Cups.
For these Birds Nest Dirt Cups I used Lemon pudding.
There is something about lemon and citrus that screams fall to me and I also have a banana pudding recipe coming later this week so I didn’t want to double up.
DIRT CUP FLAVORS
While the classic dirt cup is made with chocolate OREOS and chocolate pudding, I decided to use Lemon Pudding and vanilla OREOS
I’ve also made Peanut Butter Dirt Cups but here are a few other dirt cup flavor combos that would be delicious;
Lemon pudding and Lemon OREO
Chocolate pudding and Mint OREO
Chocolate pudding and regular OREO
Butterscotch pudding and Vanilla OREO
HOW TO MAKE BIRDS NEST EASTER DIRT CUPS
First off, I used another childhood favorite; potato sticks.
I mixed the potato sticks with a light colored brown candy melt to resemble a nest. Mixed those together and allowed them to cool. Then I broke them into pieces and set aside.
Sometimes, I love the convenience of a boxed instant pudding mix, so that’s what I did for these dirt cups.
I made an instant lemon pudding and allowed it to chill.
Meanwhile, I crushed up some vanilla OREOS.
Next, I folded in a container of whipped topping.
I placed crumbled cookies into the bottom of a glass. Topped with the lemon pudding mixture, more crumbled cookies, lemon pudding and finally the potato stick “birds nest”
Finally, I topped the dirt cups with a PEEPS chick and some egg shaped chocolate candies.
Viola, here’s a lovely Springtime bird chilling in her nest with her baby eggs.
These Birds Nest Easter Dirt Cups are a delicious way to bring a little sunshine into your day!
