Hey Summer? Can we pause for a moment and chat? I’m not sure if anyone told you but my baby is going into kindergarten so I’m going to need you to slow down a little bit so I can mentally prepare.
I am not even sure how to mentally prepare for this life changing moment. When did she get so big? How is she going to go to school all day without me? Who am I going to hang out with all day? Why children, must you grow up?!
While nothing can prepare me for the first, last day of school, at least I can send her, and my oldest son, with a lunch, packed with snacks, I know they will enjoy.
My daughter is thrilled about going to school. She finally gets to attend school with her brother, carry a backpack and a lunch bag.
We spent a good chunk of this summer looking for the perfect lunch bag for her. Going into kindergarten is special and I want her to feel as excited about picking out a new lunch box as she does about attending school all day long, even during lunch.
When I first started packing my son’s lunch, I always left him handwritten little notes on his napkin. “Have a great day!” “Make today great!” “You’re Awesome.”
It was something that my mom did and even though when I got older I was a little embarrassed, it made me smile knowing she was thinking of me.
Now, I have pre-made lunch box notes that I’ve made for my children and switch up every so often so it’s not the same notes all year long.

When it comes to actually packing the lunch, my kids are predictable. PB&J, peanut butter crackers, pretzels, chips, fruit and a juice box are standard.
With that being said, I always have stock of Lance Sandwich crackers, variety pack, and Snyder’s 100 calorie pack mini pretzels. They have something for everyone.
I make sure every time I go shopping, I hit the cracker and chip aisle so I can stock up on their favorites.
Not only do my kids absolutely love them, but so do my husband and I. They convenient, delicious and quality snacks. They’re lower in fat than traditional snacks, add crunch texture to lunch and are made with simple, wholesome ingredients I feel happy giving my family.
How do you prepare yourself for the first day of school? Are you a first-time mom sending one of your children off to school for the first time? Send me some tips and tricks on how you prepare yourself for the first day of back to school.
While again, I may not be able to prepare myself to send my baby off to full day school, other than wearing the largest sunglasses I can buy and carrying a box of tissues in my purse, at least I know both of my children will be SUPER happy to have their favorite snacks packed in their lunch boxes and a sweet note to let them know I’m thinking of them.
