I am declaring this week Patriotic dessert week. I’ve got not 2, not 3 but 4 different desserts to show you this week that you can bring to all your Fourth of July parties this weekend with no repeats. That’s right you can bring a different dessert to every party, yes! And I promise none of them are complicated. They’re fun, simple and of course, red, white and blue. Which makes it ok that I am posting all of these 1 week or less before the big festivities.
Don’t mind me. I have issues being on top of things before they actually happen. Like I should probably be posting Thanksgiving recipes at this point but truth is I haven’t even thought about what I’m making for dinner tomorrow. Forgive me.
OH, and my apologies for not posting any red, white and blue foods other than dessert, you’ll have to peek back at last year’s (which are also mainly dessert) and see all the fun I had last year with this Americana theme.
I’ve had this idea to make flavor crispy treats for a long time. But as I’ve mentioned before, I swear if I’ve thought of it, Google has it before me. I’ve long thought of making Neapolitan ones in the classic, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate flavors but yes, someone beat me to those…years ago. So, I decided I would give mine a patriotic spin.
I had no idea what flavor I wanted to use for each color, but looking back now that they’ve been made and almost published here on the blog, I wish I would have done cherry for the red and lime for the white and really made these just like a bomb pop. Sooo…you could think ahead, unlike me, and do just that but I went with strawberry and vanilla because quite frankly, I didn’t have time to buy cherry and lime extract on Amazon and have it shipped to me so I went with strawberry and vanilla which is what I could find in the store.
I decided to make these Red, white and blue crispy treats in a loaf pan because I wanted them to be really tall so when I inserted a stick into them, they were about as big as a Popsicle. These really couldn’t be simpler. I always make my rice crispy treats with vanilla so addition of extracts was just part of my crispy treat routine.
My kids absolutely LOVED these. I loved how well the strawberry and blue raspberry extracts really came through. The smell of the blue raspberry was delicious… reminded me of a super sugary blue raspberry ICEE. These were so much fun to make and I know they will be a hit at our Fourth of July party this year and they’re sure to be a hit at yours too.
I just love my son’s little chubby hands which couldn’t be more perfect for this picture! Definitely Kid Approved! ✔️

You don’t have to serve these with a stick in them but it makes them that much cuter if you do! Once you’ve tried flavored rice crispy treats, there is no going back. Experiment with different flavor combos. No matter what you choose, everyone will LOVE them!
