Kick start this fall season with a Pumpkin Pie Spice Chai Tea Latte. Pumpkin Pie creamer blended with seasonal spices such as cinnamon, ginger and cardamom from the chai tea, meld together perfectly to bring you a delightfully warm {or iced latte} perfect for those crisp autumn mornings.
I don’t know about you but I’m still living out the very last moments of summer. While I absolutely love fall, it’s my favorite season, I still am very much hung up on summer. Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the 90 degree humid days, but it’s something about the days lasting longer and the sound of children playing outside until the sun is setting at 8 pm. It’s also the fact that after fall, comes winter, which I loathe very much so.
But, as the days grow shorter and the weather is beginning to cool down, the one thing that is getting me most excited for fall is pumpkin. When there starts to be a little nip in the air and Halloween goodies start rolling out into the stores, I cannot help but get excited about Pumpkin spice season.
It seems as though, each year Fall seasonal items hit the stores earlier and earlier. I know there was much anticipation this year about Starbucks rolling out their Pumpkin Spice latte much earlier than years previous. Being a former barista, I know all too well the love for the PSL. Also, I blame being a barista on my love of caffeine. I live and breathe on the stuff. But, I’m not complaining, I’ve secured my gold membership through 2016 and my barista knowledge has led me to many make at home creations when I’m not earning stars through the drive thru.
It was about a week ago that I posted on my instagram that I had located the first seasonal creamers of the year, International Delights Pumpkin Pie Spice and Peppermint Mocha. And much to my delight, that are both available in fat-free & sugar-free, YAY! I came across the seasonal creamers while shopping at Walmart. I needed to grab a gallon of milk and always peruse the center bins to see what seasonal items they have. Much to my surprise, the creamers had hit the shelves or refrigerated bins in this case. I picked up the Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer in Fat Free & Sugar Free and instantly went home to see what I could whip up for when my 2pm afternoon slump hits.
Being that it was the afternoon and it was a little warm out, after all it is still summer, I wanted something cool and refreshing. I had this idea to brew some chai tea bags, chill it down and then add the pumpkin pie spice creamer to make a mash-up. The results were delicious. Here is the process I used.
I brew double strength chai tea. To do so, you’ll need 2 tea bags per 1 cup of water. i let that steep for 5 mins and then strained the tea bags and place the tea in the fridge to cool down for a little while. I also decided I would make chai tea ice cubes so that the ice cubes wouldn’t water down my drink. I brewed another batch of double strength chai tea and place them in my ice-cube trays and into the freezer they went. Once everything was chilled, I placed the ice cubes into my mason jar, topped with tea chai concentrate and added in a generous portion of Pumpkin pie spice creamer.
Oh my word, the results were fantastic and better than I thought. I could taste the pumpkin pie spice from the creamer and the cinnamon and cardamom from the chai tea were subtle but packed a punch. If this beverage doesn’t scream fall, I don’t know what does. I will be drinking this beverage all season long. I’m already thinking of a mash-up I can do when winter rolls around and I have the Peppermint Mocha creamer in my fridge.
Also, I am not sure about you when first thing in the morning, I prefer my drinks to be warm. Therefore, I decided to see what it would taste like to make this Pumpkin Pie Spice Chai Tea Latte hot. Same results, delicious. I placed the steeped tea into a mug, instead of chilling it in the refrigerator. Then I placed the pumpkin pie spice creamer into a small pot, on the stove, and heated the creamer until it was warm. Once warmed, I used my milk frother to froth up the milk. I was a little hesitant it wouldn’t create a silky foam but it worked beautifully. I placed the warm frothed on top of the chai tea in the mug and added fresh nutmeg to the top. This Pumpkin Pie Spice Chai Tea Latte warmed me right up and made me feel as if I was drinking fall straight out of a mug.
Not only is this pumpkin pie spice creamer awesome in recipes, I love it straight from the bottle into my morning brewed coffee. It adds a subtle spice that warms up my coffee just a little bit more. Also, I think if you were to place all of these ingredients into your blender to make a frappe, it would come out just as delicious. I added whipped cream to my iced version to bring more happiness to my fall beverage in a glass and I would do the same if I blended the mixture up.
If you’re as happy as I am that pumpkin has officially hit the market this season, you can find more inspiration on International Delights Delightful Moments inspiration page where they have a variety of yummy looking recipes featuring everything from waffles, cupcakes and cheesecakes, so you can enjoy the pumpkin spice all through the day. Leave a comment below and let me know which one you’d make first. I’m eyeballing those cupcakes with maple butter cream frosting myself.
Also, my local Walmart will be having a demo featuring International Delights Pumpkin Spice creamer on September 20, 2015. Check out this list to find demos happening near you. This would be a great time to try this delicious creamer if you haven’t already done so. Then pick up a bottle and make your own Pumpkin Pie Spice Chai Tea Latte.
Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm, bring on the sweater weather now, I’m ready!
