I don’t know about you guys but back to school is BUSY.
With a new school year also comes a new year of meetings, sports activities and general family chaos. My house is no exception.
We’ve got gymnastics, dance, boy scouts, PTO meetings, Moose meetings and my husband and I are on a volleyball team. Whew, I’m exhausted just writing it all down, let alone live it each week.
So, I’ve come up with a few ideas and words of advice that has made this back to school season a little smoother for the family. I hope these 5 Tips for a Better Morning also help you.
Speaking of mom taxi, “Hi, I drive a mom taxi!” how about you? Chaos ✔️ Busy ✔️ Car pool lane ?
What makes the mom taxi run, coffee. It’s my life coach and the reason I get up in the morning (oh was I suppose to say my kids, just kidding but I love them too!)
I like my coffee any way I can get it. Hot, Iced, frothed, shaken, stirred…but always with creamer.
These days my creamer of choice is this International Delight® OREO® Flavored Coffee Creamer.
The flavor of OREOs really comes through and it’s the best way to start my day. I can throw that baby into a to go cup and hit my mom taxi in no time! How does your coffee creamer stack up?
So, let’s power through this day, coffee in hand, with these 5 tips for a better morning.
-
Use a Planner– I use my planner for everything. Like I said our lives right now are chaos. Between school, work and after school activities, I don’t know where I am headed. This planner keeps my life in check. I also color coordinate things with these pens. Pink for my daughter, Blue for my son, Green for me, Red for school. And these adorable stickers and these holiday stickers don’t hurt either.
-
Meal Plan– I am not always good at this, but I am slowly becoming better. It also helps that my friend Tricia made these amazing meal planning pages and matching recipes cards so I can get my butt into gear. It also has a handy-dandy shopping list at the bottom so while you’re shopping at Walmart, you can remember the meals you’ve planned for the week. Once you have your menu and your shopping list planned for the week, no need to worry about the question, “What’s for dinner?”
Here are a few recipes from the planning pages
Sheet Pan Mini Meatloaves with Potatoes and Green Beans
Crockpot Chicken and Wild Rice Soup
-
Set out Clothes the night before– For some reason, it’s always such a chore for me to pick out clothes for the kids and myself. My daughter can be super picky about what she wears these days, so we got into her room and pick out every detail of her outfit so there are no fights in the morning. Makes the day much smoother.
-
Pick up the night before– Nothing makes me feel better than waking up to a clean house. The kitchen is clean, floors are picked up and garbage is taken out. It’s a fresh, clean start each and every morning with just about 20 minutes work the night before. Get the entire family involved and give each person a room. You can get much more accomplished with team work.
-
Keep a Schedule– This goes hand in hand with the first 2 tips. If you keep a planner and a meal plan, you should be able to stay on schedule. I allow my kids 30 minutes after school to watch TV, play electronics and have a snack before it’s homework time. when the homework is finished, they can go outside and play and/or have their friends over. This frees me up to prepare the dinner I have already planned.
Another quick tip to combat the mom taxi. Pack snacks. My kids are starving after school so I bring along YoCrunch® Lowfat Yogurt Cookies ‘n Cream with OREO® Cookie Pieces.
America’s Favorite Cookie® meets your favorite yogurt. It’s quite possibly the only thing that’s tastier than dunking OREO® cookies in milk. It’s the perfect ready to-go snack and one my kids absolutely love!
We stock up because they have one after school and then another before I run them to gymnastics and Cub Scouts.
Luckily, I can swing by Walmart and pick up the yogurt and my coffee creamer all in the dairy aisle.
Not only are they the perfect on-the-go snack, they’re perfect for lunches too! Especially when your daughter doesn’t each sandwiches ?
Tell me, how do you prepare your week so you aren’t living in Chaos?
Do you think these 5 Tips for a Better Morning will help you? I sure hope so!
