These Nashville Hot Chicken Waffle Bites are spicy, crispy and super simple to put together for all your appetizer needs!
I don’t know about you, but it’s game day all year round in this house.
Whether we are watching baseball, football, hockey or golf, there is always a game on in our house.
Therefore, I always have a stock of game day foods such as McCain® potato products.
Until 5/31/19, you can get $1.50 off when you purchase 2 participating McCain products at Walmart. You can submit your rebate & learn more details here!
When Nashville Hot chicken started to become a thing, I was on board.
I love a spicy piece of chicken, on top of white bread and drizzle with a hot and spicy sauce.
What’s even better than that? These Nashville Hot Chicken Waffles Bites, which are poppable and the perfect appetizer for game day watching or any social gathering you’re having.
What’s even better than that? They take less than 20 minutes to make, the time it takes to cook the waffle fries.
I’m all about convenience when it comes to after school snacks, entertaining and dinner time.
That’s why I love to head to Walmart and stock up on McCain Foods.
My kids love McCain® Smiles® Mashed Potato Shapes because they’re fun and crispy and I love them because they are made with real potatoes.
So while I was out shopping, I grabbed a bag of the Smiles, McCain® Seasoned Curly Fries Seasoned Potato Fries and McCain® Seasoned Waffle Fries.
The waffle fries are perfect for these Nashville Hot Chicken Waffles Bites which come together in a snap!
While the boneless chicken wings and waffle fries are cooking in the oven, start by making the Nashville Hot Chicken sauce with some spices. Here you have cayenne, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
Add in melted butter
and whisk to combine
Now take those cooked chicken pieces for a hot and spicy bath, fully coating them in the sauce.
Place them on top of the waffle fry and top with a piece and you’ve got yourself a plateful of Nashville Hot Chicken Waffles Bites that won’t last long during your game day watch party.
IS NASHVILLE CHICKEN SPICY?
Yes, it can be very spicy, depending on how much cayenne pepper you use.
Feel free to dial back the spice by reducing the amount of cayenne pepper OR increasing the amount of brown sugar.
You can also drizzle the Nashville hot chicken with honey.
CAN I SERVE NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN TO KIDS?
Yes, you totally can. You may want to refer to the above question on how to dial down the spice if they aren’t a fan of spicy foods.
OR
Coat the chicken pieces in bbq sauce, honey mustard or a garlic parmesan sauce. All of these options would be delicious on top of the waffle fry with or without the pickle (but I recommed a pickle)
HOW DO YOU MAKE CHICKEN WAFFLE BITES?
Start by making a spicy sauce with cayenne pepper, brown sugar, garlic and onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Whisk in the butter and dunk chicken pieces into the spicy sauce.
Place coated chicken pieces on top of cooked waffles fries and add a pickle slice. Secure with a toothpick and watch them disappear!
These Nashville Hot Chicken Waffle Bites come together quickly for a spicy, crispy, poppable appetizer!
