It’s officially summer, let the FUN begin! Summer is my favorite.
Lazy days by the pool, impromptu backyard parties and let’s not forget about the Fourth of July.
We always have a big shindig in our neighborhood and this Patriotic Edible Cookie Dough will be making an appearance alongside these M&M’S® Red, White & Blue Milk Chocolate and Peanut Pantry Jars.
This is THE best edible cookie dough and you can make it a variety of ways
You do not have to use red, white and blue candies. You can use the classic colors, flavored ones like peanut butter or use colors to coordinate with any party.
When I got home, I started to think about what I could make with some of the the M&M’S.
Luckily, I had just been having a craving for something sweet and cookie dough sounded like a great recipe to create.
INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED FOR PATRIOTIC EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH:
What is edible cookie dough made of? You will need the following items to make this edible cookie dough
- Flour
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- White sugar
- Vanilla
- Salt
- M&M’S Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate Pantry Jar
- Chocolate chips
WHAT IS EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH?
Edible cookie dough is exactly what is sounds like. Edible cookie dough does not contain eggs or any baking elements such as baking powder or baking soda. Therefore, you cannot bake edible cookie dough.
IS IT SAFE TO EAT?
Edible cookie dough does not contain eggs as we know there is risk in eating raw eggs. Some say there can be bacteria in the raw flour that would be harmful to eat it raw. To combat thiswithout, I first went ahead and heat treat the flour, which means I baked the flour before using it.
HOW TO MAKE PATRIOTIC COOKIE DOUGH
First, bake the flour for 5 minutes at 350 degrees.
Then add butter, brown sugar and white sugar into the bowl of your stand mixer or a large mixing bowl.
Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, followed by salt and flour.
Next, add in M&M’S Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate Candies
Followed by some chocolate chips and then sprinkles. Mix to combine.
This Patriotic Edible Cookie dough does not contain milk and quite frankly, in my opinion, it doesn’t need any. If you want it a little extra creamy, feel free to add in 1 tablespoon of milk and increase for desired creaminess.
It’s packed full of delicious cookie dough flavor and tons of chocolate and it takes less than 10 minutes to make!
HOW TO STORE EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH?
You should store edible cookie dough in the refrigerator.
Edible cookie dough will last 5 days in the refrigerator.
You can also freeze edible cookie dough. Frozen edible cookie dough will last up to one month in the freezer.
WHAT CAN I USE IN PLACE OF ALL PURPOSE FLOUR FOR EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH?
You can use almond flour, whole wheat flour or oat flour.
TIPS FOR MAKING EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH
I suggest folding in the M&M’S Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate Candies, chocolate chips and sprinkles. I didn’t want the sprinkles to bleed their colors of the M&M’S® pieces to break up too much.

CAN I BAKE IT?
Please do not try to bake. There is no egg in this dough and any baking soda or baking powder to allow the dough to rise. It’s best eaten straight from the spoon.

- 2 cups All purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups Brown sugar
- 3/4 cup White sugar
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup M&M'S Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate Candies
- 1/2 cup Chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons Red, White and Blue Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place flour onto a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes.
- Into the bowl of your stand mixer or a large mixing bowl add butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, followed by salt and flour.
- Fold in add in M&M'S Red, White and Blue Milk Chocolate Candies, chocolate chips and sprinkles

IDEAS AND USES
Don’t want to eat the cookie dough straight from the spoon?
Roll into balls and pop it into the freezer. Once frozen, you can dip them into chocolate for poppable cookie dough chunks.
Or after frozen, fold them into ice cream.
You could also sandwich them between pretzels for bite size sweet and salty treats or put it on top of a warm brownie!
