We’re kicking off Halloween Treats week with this adorable Death by Chocolate Dessert Ball.
I love a good dessert dip, especially when it’s extra chocolately and this one is no exception.
It’ll be THE hit of your next party!
I decided to make this dessert ball into a bat and create gravestone dippers.
What I love about dessert balls is how easy they are to make.
Throw everything into a bowl, mix together and form into a ball. Roll that baby into mini chocolate chips and serve!
INGREDIENTS FOR DESSERT BALL:
- butter
- cream cheese
- white sugar
- brown sugar
- Litehouse Chocolate flavored dip
- vanilla extract
- cocoa powder
- powdered sugar
- salt
- mini chocolate chips
- Sandwich cookies, graham crackers and/or pretzels for dipping
HOW TO MAKE DESSERT BALL WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS:
- Into the bowl of your stand mixer, beat butter and cream cheese for 2 minutes. Beat in white sugar and brown sugar until combined. Add in Litehouse Chocolate flavored dip and vanilla extract.
- Slowly add in cocoa powder, powdered sugar and salt. Beat until everything is combined.
- Lay out a piece of saran wrap and place chocolate ball into center.
Roll saran wrap into a ball, tightly, and place into the refrigerator to chill at least 1 hour.
Meanwhile, cut Milano cookies in half. Using Wilton Black Sparkle Gel write “RIP” to resemble grave stones. Allow to dry.
When the dessert cheese ball has chilled, place mini chocolate chips into a shallow dish and roll ball, pressing to adhere to ball.
Serve immediately, or wrap back up and place into the refrigerator before serving.
I recommend removing from the refrigerator 15 minutes prior to serving.
HOW TO DECORATE DESSERT CHEESE BALL
You can choose to decorate this death by chocolate cheese ball like I have, into a bat or you could just roll into the mini chocolate chips.
If you do not have mini chocolate chips, you can roll the ball into regular semi sweet chocolate chips.
TIPS FOR MAKING CHOCOLATE CHEESE BALL
Be sure to leave your butter and cream cheese out a room temperature. It makes combining the mixture so much easier.
Use a high quality chocolate sauce like Lighthouse Chocolate flavored dip. It’s rich and creamy and fabulous on it’s own too!
Don’t skip the chilling part. It makes rolling the ball into chocolate chips so much easier if it’s chilled.
CAN I MAKE CHOCOLATE CHEESE BALL IN ADVANCE?
Yes, you can make this death by chocolate dessert cheese ball up to 1 week in advance.
However, I recommend making the dessert ball, wrapping in saran wrap and then aluminum foil and storing until ready to serve. Roll the ball into mini chocolate chips just before serving.
HOW LONG WILL A DESSERT CHEESE BALL LAST?
This dessert cheese ball recipe will last up to 48 hours. Keep dessert ball recipe chilled to keep from spoiling.
