recipe variations
- For a twist, you could add 1/2 tablespoon orange zest when you add the vanilla and egg.
- You could make these with semi sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate in place of the white chocolate OR add both! Life’s short!
common questions
- Do I need to chill the dough?
- I did not chill the dough for these cookies. The reason to chill cookie dough is to prevent spreading but this cookies were not chilled and the the texture is perfect!
- Can I use sugar substitutes?
- To be quite honest, the first batch I baked, I used sugar substitutes and I was not happy with the final product. The cookies didn’t spread, tasted too sweet and were overall dry. I made a second batch with less sugar substitute and while they were less sweet, I ended up with the same results of dry hockey pucks. If you have a granulated sugar substitute and a brown sugar substitute you know and love, feel free to use them in place of the sugars in this recipe but I cannot guarantee you will have the same result.
