Layers of fresh strawberries, Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk, and Sir Bananas™ Chocolate Bananamilk make these Banana Split Popsicles irresistible to both adults and children alike.
It’s spring, who’s excited? Me, Me Me! Was that overly enthusiastic? I love spring! The birds are singing, the sun is shining and the seasonal produce is changing. Hallelujah! I am one happy girl! When spring is here it can only mean one thing, summer is next and I live for summer. The long days, the smell of the grill, popsicles in the hot sun, yes I’m a total summer girl.
I have long dreamed of living in Arizona and soaking up the sun year round but alas, I still live in the cold tundra that is Illinois. Someday though I hope I can one day call Arizona home. Aside from its warm weather, it’s a beautiful state and we could eat popsicles year round, holla!
My kids love popsicles. I recently made these and they were a huge hit! In the summertime I love to puree fresh fruit and layer them up into the Popsicle molds. They are such a healthy and refreshing treat and super simple to make. My kids love fruit; bananas, oranges, strawberries, kiwi, they eat it all. I can barely keep enough in the house!
Now when it comes to milk, it’s always something we are trying to get our children to drink more of. I myself am not a milk drinker, never have been but it’s full of protein, calcium and a downright a good choice. Then I discovered Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk at Walmart, in the dairy case. This milk is bananas, literally. My kids love bananas so I was so excited to purchase both flavors: Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk, and Sir Bananas™ Chocolate Bananamilk.
My kids flipped when I showed them and immediately wanted a glass of each kind. I had to put a stop to drinking it at that moment, because I had this idea to make Banana Split Popsicles with them! The Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk is creamy and delicious, it contains no artificial colors or flavors and it’s made with real bananas! Now this is the healthy stuff my kids can really get into and I can be proud of the snackably goodness I’m giving them.
I had purchased both types of Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk and also strawberries at the store and while they were both sitting in my cart I couldn’t help but think of a Banana Split. Then it hit me, I would make popsicles since my last popsicles in the house went over so well.
After my kids sampled the milk and I had to put a kibosh to it until I measured out how much I need for the Banana Split Popsicles, I began to assemble the popsicles,
I began by chopping up the strawberries and allowing them to macerate in sugar for a half hour. Then I pureed them up in my food processor and strained them through a fine mesh sieve to remove any seeds. Then I poured the strawberries into the mold and allowed them to freeze for an hour. Onto of the strawberry layer, I added the Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk and placed that in the freezer to firm up for an hour. Lastly, I added the Sir Bananas™ Chocolate Bananamilk and put them back into the freezer for another hour.
When the popsicles were frozen, I melted chocolate and dipped each end of the Popsicle into the chocolate and sprinkled on nuts. What Banana split isn’t complete without additional chocolate and nuts!
I did make some of the popsicles without the dipped chocolate and nuts. I absolutely love nuts in my ice cream sundaes, but some kids do not, ahem my son. So, feel free to make some with and some without, either way you can’t go wrong.
