Crispy, crunchy and packed with ham and cheesy goodness, these Ham and Cheese Stuffed Hash Brown Balls should be on your next breakfast and brunch table!
It’s officially the holiday season. Since the end of October, our schedule is busy to say the least.
Not to mention, My husband and I just returned from 7 days in the Bahamas, which was SO needed but now it’s back to reality and those chaotic schedules. I’ve already run to the store 2 times to shop for Thanksgiving with another one scheduled next week. Whew, I’m tired already and the bird hasn’t even started brining yet!
While I was at the store I grabbed a bag of Simply Potatoes® shredded Hash browns so I could whip up these amazing Ham and Cheese Stuffed Hash Brown Balls to go along side BFD (Breakfast for Dinner) last night.
BFD is one of our favorite meals. It’s quick, easy and the whole family loves it.
I have to give credit where credit is due on these Ham and Cheese Stuffed Hash Brown Balls. My dad was kind enough to watch our children for a week while we were gone. I told him I needed to think of a quick, delicious recipe using shredded hash brown potatoes. Immediately he said, “what about hash brown balls?”
What in the World?! He’s onto something here. Then I said, “yes, and let’s stuff them with ham and cheese!” Off to the store I went to purchase the ingredients and in no time we were whipping these up.
Simply Potatoes are fresh, not frozen, so you don’t need to thaw them or squeeze them to release any water that would lead to soggy hash brown balls.
I lightly pan-fried the Ham and Cheese Stuffed Hash Brown Balls so that they were crispy, like an arancini (rice ball). Personally, I love my hash browns crispy so this was the perfect idea.
I pan friend them in batches and while I was working, I placed the finished ones into the oven so they could stay warm.
The result? A light, crispy hash brown ball filled with delicious cheese and salty ham.

These are perfect for breakfast, brunch and BFD.
You can also fill them with anything you’d like. I chose ham and white cheddar but if you mixed some green peppers, ham and cheddar cheese you could make western stuffed hash brown balls or you could use leftover turkey, cranberry sauce and cheese from Thanksgiving and make Thanksgiving leftover hashbrown balls. The possibilities are endless!
These Ham and Cheese Stuffed Hash Brown Balls are so fun, unique and my family loves them. I’m looking forward to trying a whole combination of flavors with these Simply Potatoes so I can serve them all the time and I hope you do too!
