This Apple, Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza is the epitome of fall in one delicious savory pie. It’s crisp, salty, sweet, and packs a cheesy punch with fontina and sharp white cheddar cheese!
Next time it’s Pizza Friday, try this Autumn Harvest Pizza!
It’s Friday, which means it’s pizza night at our house. If we aren’t ordering a pizza from our favorite place, I’m making one.
Well make that 2 pizzas because I’m the one who likes “weird” things on my pizza while the rest of the family is traditional.
By “weird” I simply mean things my family wouldn’t put on their pizzas because they don’t know what good pizza is.
For instance, this Apple, Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza is fabulous but none of them would touch it. Great, more for me because they’re totally missing out.
Crisp apples, salty bacon, sweet onions, nutty fontina cheese and sharp cheddar. The combination is just enough to make my mouth water just writing it all out. You’ve gotta try this Apple, Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza.
Have you ever made caramelized onions? Well you should because they are nothing like raw onions. They take on a characteric that is sweet and tender and taste amazing on top of burgers, soups and this pizza.
The trick for me and caramelizing onions is to cute the onions super thin.
That is when my Swiss Diamond Paring Knife comes in handy.
I cut the onions super thin and saute them in oil in butter over medium low heat for 30 minutes. When they’re done cooking, i sprinkle them with some salt. Perfection.
The knife is also perfect to thinly slice apples which are on top of this pizza.
When this Apple, Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza came out of the oven, I couldn’t wait another second to slice into it. So much so that I burned the roof of my mouth and eating for the next 2 days is ruined. #worthit
What I really love about this pizza how juicy and tender the apples become. They’re the perfect amount of sweetness to cut through all the sharp cheesy bites!
Crispy crust and apples paired with bacon, caramelized onions and sharp cheeses become one epic Apple, Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza
