(It’s Fall and Fall means one thing. Football. We love football in this house. Chances are Thursday through Monday, you can find some sort of football game on at our house.
On the weekends, we love to have everyone over to our house, serve up some good grub and cheer on our team (go orange and blue)
I like to switch up the menu so we aren’t serving the same thing week to week and this week just so happened to be these Dr Pepper Pulled Pork n Mac Sandwiches. The combination of sweet, sharp and tangy is perfect for any game day.
We’re huge fans of pulled pork in our house and I love how easy it is to prepare. As a family, it feeds us with leftovers for later and for a hungry crowd, there’s plenty to go around.
I was shopping at Dollar General recently stocking up on some Fall goodies when I saw the Dr Pepper cans had football on them. My family loves Dr Pepper so I grabbed a 12 pack and a 2-liter bottle.

As I’m at home unloading the groceries, I noticed the Dr Pepper and a pork loin on the counter. Wouldn’t it be delicious to add Dr Pepper to my homemade BBQ sauce for a delicious sweet taste? It will caramelize the meat and add a great counterpart to the cheesy, sharp macaroni and cheese I purchased.
Then we’ll stick them both on a sandwich, call them Dr Pepper Pulled Pork n Mac Sandwiches and serve them for gameday? Oh yeah, I impress myself sometimes.
This Dr Pepper BBQ sauce has become my new favorite. It’s sweet, smoky and the perfect sauce to put on ribs, sandwiches and burgers. I served up extra alongside the sandwiches.
Sunday, during the game, our friends couldn’t stop raving about the Dr Pepper Pulled Pork n Mac Sandwiches.
The bread sops up the juicy meat and BBQ sauce while the sharp cheddar macaroni and cheese cuts through it. The two are a match made in heaven. From now on, I’m putting pulled pork in my macaroni and cheese.
I highly recommend you serve these up to your hungry fans this game day. Then expect to make them every game day after that, because they’re that GOOD!

For the macaroni and cheese, you can either make a homemade version. Check out my slow cooker version or use a boxed kind. Just make sure you have enough for 12 sandwiches. . For this recipe, I used a box kind with sharp cheddar and bacon because who doesn’t love a little bacon on their sandwiches?!
As for the bread, you want something hearty that is going to hold up to all that sauce and gooeyness of the cheese. I chose an English muffin bread I found in the bakery section. You could do an English muffin, an Italian style bread, brioche or a thick hamburger bun.
My kids absolutely loved this too. While the sandwich was a tad messy for them, I just piled some macaroni and cheese on top of the pulled pork on a plate and they went to town. New family weeknight dinner right here! It’s a double bonus recipe!
