With this Easy Summer Charcuterie Board entertaining is a breeze!
Creating charcuterie boards is one of my favorite things to do. It’s also some of my favorite snacks and meals.
Starting with your favorite meats and cheese and adding in fruits, vegetables, nuts and bread and arranging them, is therapeutic.
Charcuterie boards are also great for entertaining and in this house, summer and entertaining go hand in hand in our house.
We live outside in the summertime so having all sorts of finger foods and items to graze on, it’s easy to throw together a quick and simple charcuterie board.
There’s no stress in creating this snack board and it’s our go to for backyard entertaining.
I shopped for the Primo Taglio® products and other seasonal items I included on this board at my local Jewel-Osco.
Primo Taglio stands for “first cut” in Italian and means that every slice tastes as fresh and delicious as the first. Primo Taglio is a premium quality line of meats and cheeses made with the finest ingredients, available at a value in the Chicago area exclusively at Jewel-Osco and other Albertsons Companies family of stores.
HOW TO BUILD A CHARCUTERIE BOARD
Start with a theme. For this charcuterie board, I shopped for seasonal items and also looked for a rainbow of colors within the produce department.
Look for meats and cheeses that will pair well with the fruits, veggies and spreads that you chose.
The type of foods that go onto a charcuterie board are up to you.
You can research pairings before you go shopping but this is meant to be a stress-free snack board and everyone will enjoy whatever you choose.
I headed to the packaged meat and cheese area to find Primo Taglio products.
Primo Taglio products are made with the finest ingredients, using traditional, time-honored preparation methods, and no artificial flavors or colors, or MSG** (** With the exception of some classics like American cheese and certain value meats.
For the cheese, I picked up crumbled feta cheese, manchego cheese and a goat cheese log.
While I was there, I also grabbed a brie wheel and shaved parmesan, to use in a recipe later this week.
Primo Taglio cheeses use the highest quality milk and old-world recipes, which can be naturally aged up to 2 years.
For the meat I picked up prosciutto, pan roasted turkey breast and salami.
Many of the Primo Taglio meats use whole muscle meat with no binders or fillers.
For the fruits I chose; blueberries, grapes, cherries and peaches. But you could also include other summer fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe or mango.
Then add in some fills in. I chose; figs, cashews, almonds, honey and roasted red pepper spread. You could also use black olives, green olives, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, mini peppers, etc. The sky is the limit when it comes to assembling a snack board.
I love to pair prosciutto with peaches and honey, feta cheese with roasted red pepper spread and goat cheese with salami.
Next, think of what you’ll use to top these ingredients. I went with a French bread loaf, wheat crackers and some cheese crackers.
Lastly, what are you going to put the food on?
You can use a large cutting board, a serving tray, a wooden snack board or I used a round pizza stone.
TIPS FOR BUILDING A CHARCUTERIE BOARD
Bring your cheese to room temperature. That way it has time to loosen up and bring out it6s flavor. It’s best to bring it to room temperature at least 30 minutes before serving and return to the fridge no longer than 2 hours.
STORING LEFTOVER MEATS AND CHEESES
Chances are you may have some charcuterie leftover.
To store leftover cheese, wrap into parchment paper and place into a zip top bag. Label the bag with the date and place into cheese drawer.
Soft cheeses, like goat cheese can last up to 3 weeks, while hard cheeses, like manchego, can last up to 8 months when stored properly.
Summer snack boards are also great for picnics. Often times, we’ll pack a few of our favorites, lay out a blanket and enjoy the outdoors.
This meat and cheese board is an easy breezy way to entertain this summer and with one stop shop at your local Albertson’s banner stores, putting it together is a cinch!
