Your hungry game day fans will love this Slow Cooker Philly Cheesesteak Dip. The classic sandwich turned into a dip that’s packed with roast beef, peppers, cheese and onions.
If you love party dips, try this Chorizo Queso Fundido dip!
Is this not the best time of year or what?! I mean, what’s not to love? The big man’s coming down the chimney, there’s cookies galore and if you’re my husband, mostly importantly college FOOTBALL!
We watched a football game this past weekend and they were making snow angels in the snow. How awesome is that!
College Football Bowl games are starting soon so you’ll be able to find my husband in front of the tv and me in the kitchen, whipping up food like this Slow Cooker Philly Cheesesteak dip.
There’s hungry fans after all and they need to be fueled up for game day!
Around our neighborhood, we all cheer for different college teams. Although we don’t have any rivalries that play one another but it’s still weekend after weekend of football, fun and food.
I love a good game of football whether it’s professional or College Football Playoffs. If the game isn’t good, the food is bound to be good, right?
I like to switch up what I bring to these homegating events.
We live in the Midwest so it’s too cold to be doing that stuff outdoors right now so I like to bring munchies that will warm you right up.
Instead of making sandwiches for everyone this past weekend, I turned a classic sandwich into a cheesy dip. Philly Cheesesteak dip to be exact.
I was running behind, because ya know, holiday season, so while sitting in the carpool lane, I choose Walmart’s grocery store pickup. I was able to shop for everything I needed right in my car! Now that is winning.
I grabbed some deli roast beef, onion, a baguette and Dr Pepper®, because it’s our favorite, and the festive football on the cans is a must for home gating! Also check for the 2-liter football bottles as well. They are great for having out at your Homegating party.

Okay, I’ve never ever tried the grocery store pick-up thing before, but today I wish I had! I couldn’t find ANYTHING lol. And what an awesome idea for a dip- I love this! Such a perfect football food!
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
The grocery store pick up helps me so much with impulse buys, LOL! I love it too when I’m in a hurry!
Lisa | Garlic & Zest says
I admit that football is probably one of my least favorite sports to watch — unless there happens to be a good spread of food — and then I’m all in. I’m fairly certain that I’d have to strategically position myself around this bowl of Philly Cheesesteak Dip for at least 3 out of 4 quarters. It looks positively decadent!
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
LOL, Lisa! No need for a football game to enjoy this dip! And I agree, I love a good spread at a home gate!
Brandy says
What a wonderful way to make Philly cheesesteak’s! I would’ve never thought about making it into a dip but what a great idea. It would go fast at our parties.
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
It doesn’t last very long at ours. Thank you!
Gloria @ Homemade & Yummy says
I love HOT dips. This is perfect for entertaining. I just know it would be a hit. It looks so good I could eat it with a spoon. I’m sure there would be no leftovers either.
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
I love dips too! I should turn more classic sandwiches and recipes into dips!
Patty says
This dip looks delicious and fairly easy to make, We love Philly Cheese steak and with my husband and son this bowl would go as fast as I put it down, I’ll make it for our next gathering.
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
Thank you, Patty! There’s cheese, beef and peppers, what’s not to love?! ?
Leah says
This dip looks amazing! What cheesy delicious goodness! I love all the ingredients, and it just sounds so delish. I mean, I love a great Cheesesteak sandwich, so why wouldn’t I love this?!
Lisa | Garlic & Zest says
I just made philly cheesesteaks a few weeks ago for the Super Bowl — wish I’d known about this dip then! It would have been so much easier than individually making sandwiches all night… You should have called and let me know. This dip looks so unctuous and rich!
Tina says
That dip looks great, and easy too, I’m there. It’s funny, we have different football team fans in our own family but in our neighborhood it’s BYU all the way. Probably because we live 10 miles away from BYU. My husband is a double fan. He loves BYU, his alma mater, and Texas Longhorns, my alma mater. For Christmas our daughter got two fan T-shirts, one from each team, cut it in half and sewed each team together to make a super fan T-shirt. He LOVED it. Anywhoo, I like Diet Dr. Pepper, it’s less sweet and perfect!

It’s the end of february now and I was like, who is that man that is climbing through your chimney? haha 🙂 I had to scroll back and check that you published it in December. In either case, the dip looks fantastic, whether you are making snow angels or lounging by the pool. I am addicted to dips!

Oh. My. Gosh. I’ve never heard of a cheese steak dip, and I’m not sure why because this totally make sense. LOOK HOW CREAMY! I’m such a sucker for rich dips. My lifestyle is pescetarian-focused, but I have my “flexitarian” moments every once in a while and this would definitely cause me to go flex for a night. Haha.
One of my fave home-gating goodies is a monster platter of cheesy nachos!
Tracy Koslicki says
I admit… I’m actually mainly into football watching for the snacks! Especially snacks like this!! It seems like all of the BEST appetizers come out during football season! 😀
Helen @ Fuss Free Flavours says
Oh that dip looks AMAZING, I want to dive right in now. Perfect winter food.
I never have the grocery store temptation as I have a delivery once a week, I actually enjoy going to the store now for a browse.
Amy Nash says
Dang, Megan, this dip looks sooo good. I love that you can just use deli roast beef in it – it’s one of our favorite deli meats to have on hand in the fridge for sandwiches so I don’t see how you could wrong using it in a cheesy, warm dip. I’m not one for sports, but I’m all about entertaining so I’m pretty sure I can come up with an excuse for a game night with friends playing cards and make this to share!
Donna says
My hubby has been begging me to make some philly cheesesteaks FOREVER!! I am so not into them, but I am pretty sure I could get on board with this dip, it sounds amazing!! Love those bowls too.
Megan | Strawberry Blondie Kitchen says
I think this dip could be a great compromise for the both of you!
Amanda says
What a fun dip for serving hungry football fans! (Or even guests who are at the party “for the food” haha.) I love a good cheesy dip, and making it in the slow cooker makes it so easy for entertaining. That grocery store pick up option sounds incredibly convenient as well! What a great way to multitask and get everything done stress-free.
